Hurricanes of 303 (Polish) Squadron climb to intercept a raid on the morning of 27th September 1940. Within 20 minutes they were badly bounced by Me109s and three of the Hurricanes were shot down, two pilots died and one was badly burned.
As there are no surviving members of 303 Squadron from the Battle of Britain period, we have been honoured to have Sqn Ldr Franciszek Kornicki sign 100 of the prints on behalf of them. Sqn Ldr Kornicki joined the squadron during the Battle of Britain but didn't fly operationally until after the Battle. He went on to have an outstanding career as a fighter pilot with other Polish squadrons and went on to command both 308 and 317 Sqn.
